GFGC Students learn to grow culinary mushrooms!

Shiitake Logs

Mushroom logs are a low maitenance addition to a food forest! Once these logs are set up they can provide mushrooms for up to eight years without any additional work. Students learned to prepare mushroom logs in Spring and Fall of our ‘22 program. The logs were placed behind the church and after 6 months have produced mushrooms!

Oyster Bags

The Oyster mushrooms are faster option. We can have mushrooms in as little as 4 weeks! Students prepared oyster bags and had great sucess at home growing them!

Harvest and Cook

Now what do we do with all of these mushrooms?
